Dr. Sam D. DyerSPEAKER: Dr. Sam C. Dyer
Associate Professor of Communication at Southern Missouri State University in Springfield

Dr. Dyer teaches the senior and graduate level courses in Public Relations. He has published in Public Relations Quarterly, Public Relations Review, the Journal of Public Relations Research, and many others. He got his GED in 1974, his BS at Central Missouri State University, his MA at Eastern New Mexico University, and his Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee in 1991. Dr. Dyer is also a visual and musical artist specializing in pen and ink drawings, water color, and traditional musical arts. He is the son of Marshall's Samuel C. Dyer Sr. aka Dyer the Flyer and Guild member Sharon Eiker, lives in Springfield with his spouse, Trish, and has two daughters, Sophia and Synthia, and three grandchildren. Dr. Dyer's topic for the workshop, Trends in Issues Management, is intended to provide guidance to non-profit groups on how to attract young members. Dr. Dyer believes learning how to spot trends in our culture can really help in the creative writing process.
